Growing up in an African American household in the inner city, access to affordable healthy foods were limited. Both of my parents worked full-time and raised three kids. It was normal in our home to have fast and processed food.

When I started school, the options for healthy choices were scarce. I was surrounded by pizza, chips, soda, candy, and etc. Exercise is not largely promoted in the urban community.

After years of eating terribly, I felt awful and knew I had to change my lifestyle. I removed all fast and processed food and started to incorporate whole grains, fruits, and vegetables into my diet.

I started to make exercise a high priority and after 10 years of living a healthier lifestyle, I’ve made it my goal to inspire and motivate others to do the same.

I want to promote and create positive changes in not only my life but others as well.
