I love the holidays , but one thing that kills me during the holidays is all the food! The food that makes our taste buds go nuts usually have plenty of carbohydrates, fats, and sugar.
Despite all the festivities happening, another thing working against us is daylight savings time. It gets darker earlier and it is cold/raining more often.
Both contribute and encourage lazy behavior since all we want to do is eat and sleep in. Here are some things I incorporate into my life to stay fit through the holidays:
Increase the number of days and times that you are working out. Aim to strength train. Building muscle will help you burn fat even when you aren’t working out. If you are in a rut, try a different exercise routine. I have tons of different workouts you can try at home.
Try to eat healthier and lighter on the days leading up to the Holidays. If I know I will be eating a huge meal, I will eat skimpier throughout the day. Make sure you take in as many nutrients as possible. Try this healthy seasonal salad.
Increase Water Intake
Swap out sugary drinks for water. Try to take in as much water as possible to keep yourself hydrated and from overeating.
No one wants to undo all their hard work from the summer! I hope these tips will help you stay fit throughout the holidays. Let me know if you have any tips that work for you by leaving a comment below.
