#1 Put on your workout clothes as soon as you can.
When I get home from work I put my workout clothes on as soon as I get in. By doing this, it puts me in the mindset to work. When you have your clothes on, you will feel more motivated to do it. I prefer wearing a basic workout tank and capri pants with a lot of colors to keep my energy up. I really like the styles of the workout attire at Lululemon, Zella and Athleta. If you are looking to save, you can find affordable workout attire at Old Navy and Nordstrom’s Rack.
#2 – Blast Music to Pump You Up!
Invest time in making high-energy playlists when you work out. I have even heard of people say that they watch Netflix when working out. Whatever cuts the edge of the workout, do it! If you are on Spotify, I recommend the Running station. My favorite playlist is Power Workout!
#3 – Remind Yourself of How You Felt About Your Last Workout.
When you work out your brain releases serotonin, that’s where that “ I feel so good now” feeling comes from. When I’m starting to feel lazy, I like to remind myself of how great it felt to finish the work out.
#4 – Put Your Workouts in Your Calendar.
Have specific dates and times out the week to work out to train your mind to make sure you make that appointment. I try to go to aerobics classes at least twice a week. I will add those times to my calendar. If I am unable to make it to my classes, I schedule time to go for a run or power walk.
#5 – Mental Mind Tricks
When I still try to find excuses for not working out, I start giving myself mental mind tricks. I repeat motivational quotes and look at my old pictures for inspiration.
Here are a few of my favorite motivational quotes to inspire me:
Let’s face it. Working out can be challenging but if you train your mind to focus on the positive, it will pay off.
Do you have any tips/tricks that you use to get your mind motivated and focused? I’m always looking for new ways to stay focused.
