5 Daily Nutrition Tips

By Posted on 0 2 m read 42 views

When it comes to nutrition and healthy eating there are five daily tips that I advise for staying on track and in shape.

Water

There is a reason why all the health experts encourage 11-15 cups of water daily. The most important reason is you need water to stay hydrated and replenished. In addition, water keeps you full to keep you from overeating. I aim to drink at least 8 cups of water a day. I have removed soda from my liquid diet completely and I rarely drink juice due to the high sugar levels. Always choose water as your drink choice and you are one step closer to a healthier life.

Vegetables

It is unfortunate that vegetables are not very popular in the food pyramid. How else can you consume nutrients and low calories at once?  I highly recommend including vegetables in your meals at least once a day. I like to eat fresh leaf lettuce as much as possible. It can be hard to keep up with lettuce as it spoils fast. I recommend frozen vegetables if you aren’t able to do fresh. Try to incorporate vegetables in your daily nutrition plan. #ChristalsFavorites: Romaine, Kale, Red Leaf Lettuce

Whole Grains

I often hear people say they want to lose weight so they are going to cut carbs. My advice is to never cut carbs completely. Your body needs carbs for fuel. The trick is choosing the right carbs for your meals. #ChristalsFavorites: Oatmeal, Whole Wheat Bread

Fruit

Fruit is the perfect midday snack and will help you resist the urge to eat sugary items throughout the day. Try to stay away from juicing as the sugar content will be higher than if you were to eat a raw fruit. In addition, the fiber also helps to keep you full. #ChristalsFavorites: Oranges, Apples and Berries

Lean Meat

Protein! Protein! Protein! This is most essential nutrient besides water. Try to choose lean proteins such as Turkey, Chicken or Soy Substitutes. Not only will you notice a change in your waistline, lean meats are good for the heart. #ChristalsFavorites: Salmon, Tilapia, Morningstar Farms Soy Substitutes.
